When Captured Lies becomes a Movie, Who Should Play Dorothea?

Tough Decisions

I have had a lot of fun choosing who would play each main character role, from Captured Lies, but wow has it been hard. There are some incredible female and male actors out there. It has been really difficult to really narrow down who would be the best in each role. Believe me I’m not complaining about having to do this however I can tell you it has been quite time consuming. A bit of a rabbit hole. 🙂

I do have to say though with Dorothea, I have a clear image of who I think should play this role. I’ll share after you have chosen. 🙂

Who is Dorothea?

In Captured Lies, Dorothea is a 78 year old woman who is a business owner. She owns Caspian Winery, is quite a savvy woman but one who is very direct in what she wants. If she decides something is going to happen, it will.

She’s the one that really starts the whole story. Bailey is her granddaughter who was kidnapped as a baby. Of course as the grandmother, one who has made enemies is blamed by her daughter for it happening. To try to make things right, she never gave up looking for her granddaughter. One day, by fluke,  she sees a newspaper article with Bailey’s picture in it. She knows it is her missing grand-baby. Unfortunately, that starts a whole new threat to Bailey’s life.

Who should I choose?

So in choosing for Dorothea, I needed someone who could play a really dynamic, strong woman, classy and who has no problem with getting her way. She had to be someone who is likable but is direct, even blunt with others. Trying to find someone who could make you really like her and admire her was interesting to narrow down.

Can she untangle 30 years of secrets, lies and deceit?

She was kidnapped not once but twice…

and now someone wants her dead because of it…

Her life was a lie!

Bailey knew her upbringing hadn’t been normal but she’s worked hard to stabilize her life. She finally has a good business, a stable home; her life is miles from that of her childhood. Then her mom suddenly dies, leaving a gaping hole and a discovery  that they may not even be related. If Guy, the private investigator is to be believed, her life was a lie. Growing up on the run has prepared Bailey for once again, fleeing to stay alive. Using the skills she learned on the street, Bailey travels back through a sketchy and dangerous past, to find answers. Dodging bullets, staying ahead of those who want her dead and convincing Guy she can do it alone, are making it difficult to uncover not only the secrets of her mother’s past but that of a family claiming she is theirs.

Everyone seems to have a story… but who’s telling the truth? And who wants her dead? To discover the truth, she’ll have to untangle a web of deceit, lies, and secrets dating back over thirty years.

Which female actor should play Dorothea?

I know who I think would do an amazing job as Dorothea, she came to mind right away for me when I was considering the actors. I would love your opinion, though. Who do you think should play Dorothea if Captured Lies were to be a movie?

This was tough there are a number of dynamite ladies who came to mind for this role but I needed something specific.

There were so many good actors to choose from. This was really difficult.

Both of these two actors, Helen Mirren and Annette Bening (she’s a bit young so would have to be aged but I don’t think that will be an issue) have played some very diverse and amazing roles.
