When Captured Lies becomes a Movie, Who Should Play Graham?

Maggie Thom, Multi-Award Winning Author, Speaker, Writing Coach

Captured Lies is book 1 in The Caspian Wine Series. It is an intriguing story of secrets, lies and deceit. You get to meet a number of characters and learn about their lives and what their stake in Bailey’s journey is. This story has twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end.

 (jean..Who is Graham?

In Captured Lies, Graham is Guy’s business partner at Knight’s Associates Private Investigative Services. He plays the side kick role but he is important because he is the main character in book 2 of The Caspian Wine Series – Deceitful Truths. Graham is really good at cyber security and computers but has a quirky sense of humor and is always cracking jokes and making jabs at Guy. He is a likeable guy, who works hard but doesn’t take too many things too seriously.

Graham is 32, has shaggy blonde hair, isn’t too fashion conscious (jeans and a t-shirt are his go to), 6′ (ish) and is single.

Sounds like a great guy, right?

Can she untangle 30 years of secrets, lies and deceit?

She was kidnapped not once but twice…

and now someone wants her dead because of it…

Her life was a lie!

Bailey knew her upbringing hadn’t been normal but she’s worked hard to stabilize her life. She finally has a good business, a stable home; her life is miles from that of her childhood. Then her mom suddenly dies, leaving a gaping hole and a discovery  that they may not even be related. If Guy, the private investigator is to be believed, her life was a lie. Growing up on the run has prepared Bailey for once again, fleeing to stay alive. Using the skills she learned on the street, Bailey travels back through a sketchy and dangerous past, to find answers. Dodging bullets, staying ahead of those who want her dead and convincing Guy she can do it alone, are making it difficult to uncover not only the secrets of her mother’s past but that of a family claiming she is theirs.

Everyone seems to have a story… but who’s telling the truth? And who wants her dead? To discover the truth, she’ll have to untangle a web of deceit, lies, and secrets dating back over thirty years.

Who should play Graham?

When I think of Graham I think of the character Deeks on NCIS LA. Deeks has a quirky sense of humor but is really good at his job. And that is how I see Graham as well—smart, funny and the guy you want to have around to keep things light. Unfortunately the person who plays Deeks is a bit too old for the role of Graham and if things go well with getting Captured Lies made into a movie, fingers crossed, maybe Deceitful Truths will become a movie as well. Wouldn’t that be cool? So I needed someone who wouldn’t be too old in a couple of years.

For choosing these two guys, I went a lot on looks but also characters I’ve seen them play that I think kind of fits who Graham is.

The two actors I chose

Both of these two actors, Alex Pettyfer (known for many roles – latest being Stephen Underwood – The Last Witness) and Max Thieriot (known for playing Clay Spenser – Seal Team) are quite talented and have the look I want and I think they could both play the smart-ass kind of smart guy that I think Graham is.

Who do you think would play the role of Graham better?

Max Thieriot

Please comment below and let me know which man you think would play Graham’s character the best? Max Thieriot or Alex Pettyfer? Or have another suggestion?

The choice for who would play Graham is Max Thieriot. I truly think either man would do the role justice. Thank you for all who voted.
